Friends: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
5. Season Six
Outside of Chandler and Monica's engagement, Season Six is almost pure comedy, with few emotional arcs or revelations in its over-arching plot. Whilst this didn't work for Season One, by now fans were more than familiar with the group dynamic and the characters of the show, allowing for a bit more wriggle room.
Though this isn't the best season for Ross (lying about getting an annulment from Rachel, then dating a student), Season Six manages to deliver a consistent barrage of laughs thanks to the Thanksgiving episode "The One where Ross Got High" and "The One where Joey Loses His Insurance." Bruce Willis also turns up in a brilliant recurring role, proving that he is very much the man.
The divisive two-part "what could have been" arc lets the momentum of the season down slightly, though it does give the cast a fun opportunity to play different variations of their characters and lets fans see how destined to be friends they all are.
As a whole, Season Six is one of the funniest seasons of the show, and though it works from start to finish thanks to its level of confident comedy, it could have done with a slightly more emotional edge to see itself any higher on this list.
