Futurama: 10 Most Annoying Little Inconsistencies

8. Robots Don't Actually Need Alcohol

There have been a few jokes throughout Futurama revolving around Bender spiralling in a bout of not drinking. He was well below the legal alcohol limit for robots when he crashed the oil tanker on Pluto, and he stayed up all night not drinking when he was being haunted by a werecar.

When Bender multiplied himself infinite times, almost every single copy was killed off after they drank all of the alcohol in the world, leaving now left to continue with. Even his best friend got confused from time to time, forgetting how much robots need to drink, but it’s made pretty clear that it is a necessity. This isn’t exactly true though, is it?

In the first ever episode of Futurama, Bender said he could quit drinking any time he wanted, and though it seemed like he was lying at the time, maybe he actually could. When he found religion in 'Hell is Other Robots', he renounced the evils of alcohol, in particular fortified wine.

Instead, he survived on a diet of rich, robot mineral oil. Despite going for days without a drink, Bender grew no rusty five o’clock shadow, and continued to function just fine.
