Futurama: 10 Most Underrated Episodes

7. Decision 3012

Futurama A Leela Of Her Own
20th Television

Futurama has dealt with time travel on numerous occasions, most famously of course when Fry went back to 1947 and became his own grandpa, and during Bender's Big Score. This is a dangerous trope for TV shows to use, as it opens the writers up to so many potential plot holes and inconsistencies, but this show seems to handle it incredibly well.

In season nine, 'Decision 3012' once again played with the idea of time travel, and once again the Futurama writers knocked it out of the park. Chris Travers was a presidential candidate sent back in time to stop Richard Nixon from winning the election and ruining the world.

Though he succeeded in stopping Nixon from becoming President by winning the election himself, this meant that the future changed enough that it was never ruined, and thus he was never sent back in time in the first place. This led to Travers not existing in the year 3012 as in the first go round, leaving Nixon to actually win. Things changed so much so that they didn't actually change at all.

This is another ridiculously clever concept for an episode, and one that deserves a lot more attention for putting together such a fun time travelling adventure.
