Futurama: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
5. Season One
The season that started it all, Futurama's debut effort remains a solid season of TV. Introducing fans to the likes of Fry, Bender, Leela and the Professor, as well as an expansive and imaginative futuristic world, season one is just a lot of fun, revelling in its simplicity whilst making each character feel fully formed and ready for what the show would become.
With the comedy of "I, Roommate" and "A Fishful of Dollars," the season's biggest strengths stem from watching Fry come to terms with his new life and his unlikely friendship with Bender.
The main issues of the season, though, are simple to point out, and are especially easy to spot on re-watches. First off, at only 13 episodes, it's unfortunately short, and though it manages to dig into Fry, Bender and Leela's characters, the majority of the Planet Express crew end up feeling unfairly underdeveloped. On top of that, the scope is just too small compared to later seasons, and with episodes like "The Series Has Landed" and "When Aliens Attack," it just seems like the writers were too reluctant to push themselves like they would in future.
