The Why of Fry may have featured a mystery that ran from the very first episode of Futurama, but Roswell that Ends Well changed the show’s main character until the very last. Can anyone really say they looked at Fry the same way after seeing him do what he did while in the past?

Just for clarification, what he did was kill his grandfather by inadvertently luring him onto a nuclear bomb test site, and before the dust even settled, he slept with the newly deceased man’s girlfriend who also happened to be his own Grandma Mildred.

A lot to unpack there, but somehow that string of words made a truly standout episode of Futurama. It wasn’t even just Fry’s gross escapades, but Zoidberg’s detention at Area 51 and Bender losing his body all while fighting to get home was exactly what a time-traveling episode should be.

All the way down to realising that Bender wasn't trapped in the past, but had instead spent the last thousand years pleasantly enjoying being buried alive, this story had everything, and for the longest time was the best time travel story Futurama ever put out. However, in 2013 this episode lost its crown...
