Futurama: The Planet Express Crew Ranked From Worst To Best

Generating a strong leading protagonist for your series can often be an arduous task, as you need to be able to create a character that can be interesting, but also has a relatable set of eyes for the audience to look through. Fry really works though as he bridges the gap between these two important factors diligently.

Billy West also voices this character and brings so much personality to him. Philip J. Fry is a bumbling buffoon of a leading role, as he's entirely unreliable as a member of the crew and continually causes problems that makes life difficult for them. However, Fry is ultimately a character with a heart of gold who honestly does care for his friends and tries hard even if he fails.

There is this endearing quality to Fry that shows him to be naïve but entirely optimistic. Those factors combine to deliver a consistently positive presence that lets him quickly become one of your favourite characters.

Finally - like Leela - Fry hits many beautifully emotional moments throughout the show, with particular highlights being his dog Seymour and the culmination of the story with his brother Yancy.
