Game Of Thrones: 10 Darkest Moments The Show Left Out

6. Tyrion's Experience As A Slave

Game of Thrones Bran Stark
HBO

Tyrion's time as a slave gets woefully underplayed in the show. The writers simply took the quickest possible route they could to get Tyrion to Dany.

In the books he hasn't even met Dany yet. He's still residing in the camp or the Slaver army laying siege to Meereen. He's sold to a master named, Yezzan zo Qaggaz, an extremely obese man who can no longer walk, and smells of urine. His fascination with anybody who seems out of the ordinary leads him to 'collect' slaves who are you unique.

His entourage is includes a bearded lady, a hermaphrodite, a boy who has the legs of a goat, and a two-headed girl. Tyrion isn't treated all that badly by Yezzen, who is extremely proud of his 'collection'. He is warned by another slave, however, that if he refuses their master's 'advances' he will live to regret it.

Luckily, Tyrion never learns what those 'advances' might lead to, but he does witness what happens to slaves who don't obey. Several runaways are brought back for punishment and strung up for all to see. The slavers use slings to hurl polished stone balls, and their deadly accuracy becomes apparent when, one-by-one, each slave has their kneecaps exploded.
