Game Of Thrones: 10 Darkest Moments The Show Left Out

5. Qyburn Mutilating A Singer

Game of Thrones Bran Stark
HBO

When we're first introduced to Qyburn he seems like a kindly old man who just had a run of bad luck. Pretty soon he turns out to be just as messed up as every other character in the show; rising to a position of power in the Red Keep, conducting twisted experiments on the Mountain, and assisting Cersei in her maniacal scheming.

His book counterpart is much the same, we just get more of his twisted behaviour.

As part of Cersei's plan to have Margaery Tyrell imprisoned, she uses a character known as the Blue Bard to entrap the girl. Rumour has it, he sings for Margaery and her handmaidens, while they host all manor of boozy medieval orgies - sounds fun, until Cersei gets wind of it.

She imprisons the Blue Bard, forcing him to testify about Maraery's infidelities. At first he's reluctant, but after Qyburn spends a few days torturing the man he becomes more willing. Cersei watches on as Qyburn removes one of his nipples, as well as an eye.

Yep, George R.R. Martin loves torture.
