Game Of Thrones: 10 Evil Acts Committed By Starks
6. Their Ancestors Slaughtered The Children Of The Forest
You may have heard the Starks proudly boasting their descendance from the First Men throughout the show.
The First Men influence much of the traditions held sacred by the North. As the first humans to set foot on Westeros, the First Men claimed the land for their own.
At the time of the invasion, the Children of the Forest were the indigenous race of Westeros. The two species inevitably went to war for thousands of years with the First Men burning and destroying much of the Children's homeland. Before adopting the beliefs of the Old Gods, many of the Weirwood trees were cut down as they were believed to be used for spying. The Weirwood trees of course being spooky faced great white trees with bleeding eyes that the Three-Eyed Raven would use to teach Bran how to be a greenseer.
One of the most famous Stark ancestors is Brandon of the Bloody Blade who slaughtered so many Children of the Forest at the Blue Lake that it was renamed the Red Lake.
It was the extreme acts of violence that would provoke the creation of the Night King as a last attempt to wipe out the invaders.
