Game Of Thrones: 10 Evil Acts Committed By Starks
2. The War Across The Water
Also known as the Worthless War, the War Across the Waters was the direct result of the darkest moment in Stark history.
Fought between the kingdoms of the North and of the Vale, the War Across the Water determined who would reign over the three small islands known as the Three Sisters.
This seemingly small dispute lasted over a thousand years with ownership of the islands changing twelve times between Stark and Arryn. The war ended when the North lost interest in their conquest and left the Three Sisters despite hundreds of years of bloodshed.
The reason House Arryn persisted in their efforts to take the land back from the Northmen is due to an event known as the Rape of the Three Sisters. Before the war, House Stark led a raiding party pirating and pillaging the three islands.
Stories tell that the Northmen cooked and ate children, disemboweled men, executed prisoners of war, and allowed the Boltons to flay hundreds of islanders. These actions are not spoken of or acknowledged by any Stark to this day.
