Game Of Thrones: 12 Greatest Anti-Heroes In Westeros
8. Varys
Varys was one of the shadiest characters in the whole show throughout most of the series so far, but since Season 4, he really has emerged as one of the most neutral, balanced, wisest men on the continent, and now he's at the peak of his prominence across the Narrow Sea.
Everything Varys does is for the good of the realm. He has no house loyalty, and in his words, he only serves the realm. Since helping break Tyrion out of King's Landing, he has proved a loyal companion to the dwarf and now that Varys has caught up to the party in Meereen expect him to make a big impact. His spying is unconventional, and in some instances looks far too sinister, but stripping it all down to basics shows that the more he knows, the better he can serve. Varys is a hugely important character with seemingly far fewer secrets to hide.
