Game Of Thrones: 10 Last Minute Predictions For Season 8

4. The Night King Dies In Penultimate Episode

The Night King has to die.

Yes, Game of Thrones is a series filled with bad guys winning and lots of people we care about dying, but if the Night King doesn't die it means either a) there's a pact formed with him (which seems unlikely as he's never going to talk), b) a new Wall is built (again, unlikely, given it's just come down), or c) everyone dies and the White Walkers win.

And that last option, the most likely of those three, doesn't sound at all satisfying. Sure, people do need to die, but to kill everyone makes it feel worthless. And that's why the Night King needs to die, which is something the showrunners hopefully understand (after all, if he wins then it's not going to be bittersweet).

While his death could come at the Battle of Winterfell, that is a bit early, and this seems like a perfect moment for the last ever penultimate episode. That's the one where Thrones made its name after all, and Miguel Sapochnik is directing it this year. What better way to have the final (honourable) ninth episode go out than another big battle and the death of the major villain?
