Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Head-Scratching Plot Holes

1. Jon Snow's Boat Ride

So, Jon's just seen thousands of wights storm Hardhome at the command of the white walkers who proceeded to kill and resurrect 90,000 wildlings to form a super-army capable of mass destruction. Jon gets on his boat along with a few thousand other wildlings, but why? They hop on, and paddle off-screen before landing back on the wrong side of the Wall. What was the point in that? The journey would've seen Jon and the wildlings make the treacherous hundreds of miles journey from the shore to the wrong side of Castle Black while knowing that there's an army of rampant undead on their side of the Wall. Why could Jon not simply land back in Westeros and march his wildlings back through safe territory along the far less harsh side of the Wall? They added hundreds of miles of danger to their quest, all for the sake of one dramatic stare-off between Jon and Aliser Thorne.
