Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Powerful Characters Going Into Season 7

4. Jon Snow

Game Of Thrones Night King Daenerys
HBO

One of the main heroes of the saga, Jon Snow has more than earned that billing over the course of the last six seasons, going from bastard son of Ned Stark to Lord Commander of the Night's Watch to King in the North.

Along the way he's established his credentials as a respected leader in battle, earning the respect of his fellow brothers, the Northerners, and even the Wildlings,

Furthermore, from his training at the hand of Rodrik Cassel to vanquishing a White Walker, he's established himself as arguably the greatest warrior currently living in Westeros.

Now, he holds the key to a resurgent North, and has at his service an army made up of the best of the North and fierce Wildlings. It may not be the biggest around, but it'll be one of the most loyal. He may not be the most tactically astute commander (or rather, he too often goes with his heart), but with the increasingly powerful and politcally savvy Sansa by his side (assuming she ultimately chooses him over Littlefinger), along with the likes of Davos and Tormund, it's something he can overcome.

As well as being the man to hold the North, he's potentially much more besides. As confirmed in Season 6 he is indeed half-Targaryen, which makes a potential alliance with Daenerys all the more likely. He's also the only major leader to understand the threat that lies Beyond-the-Wall, and thus will have a major role to play in saving Westeros from it.
