Game Of Thrones: 10 Reasons It’s The Best TV Show Ever
9. The Landscapes
In a similar vein to Lord Of The Rings, GOT treats its viewers to some absolutely stunning landscapes - perfect mixtures of CGI and Earth's natural magnificence. Best enjoyed on an obnoxiously large television with HD capabilities, the long, panning shots of the rugged terrains of Westeros are truly awe-inspiring. While many of the more simplistic, tree-covered settings of the North are shot in Scotland and Northern Ireland, other parts of the GOT universe are located throughout Europe and Africa. Scenes from The Iron Islands are actually shot in Ballintoy Harbour of Northern Ireland, for example, while Yunkai (aka the Yellow City), was shot in Morocco. The more exotic scenes from the show, particularly when contrasted with the glaciers of the snowy Far North , provide an incredibly exciting, varied and expansive world. Notably impressive are scenes in King's Landing, (Dubrovnik, Croatia); The Eyrie in the Vale of Arryn, (Meteora, Greece); and Essos, home of the Dothraki wedding (Azure Window, Malta).
