Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Blood Of My Blood'

Downs...2. Margaery's Game (Or Lack Thereof)

Game of Thrones Margaery Tommen
HBO

Is Margaery playing the High Sparrow, or has she fully committed to the Faith?

It's one of the big questions after this episode, and not one that appears to have an easy answer. The assumption, because of the character, is that she knows exactly what she's doing, that she doesn't trust the High Sparrow, and this is all part of some clever plan. The issue with that is that it completely f's up the rescue mission her father and grandmother were on, and also it massively drags Tommen into the mess and sells him to the High Sparrow (unlike with Margaery, there's little doubt the Boy King has been convinced). It also fails to give a damn about her brother Loras, simply that "he will atone." The idea of Margaery playing the High Sparrow fits, but what comes with it doesn't.

What also doesn't fit is the notion that the High Sparrow has truly got inside her head. Maybe they've had a couple of off-screen chats, but still - a tale about how he turned his life around, and now all of a sudden Margaery Tyrell is siding with him? Surely not. That would be a massive, and extremely sudden, change of heart, that would totally go against her character.

Hopefully this will be cleared up soon (and I doubly hope she is just pretending), but either way, as it stands right now, it's a strange decision for the character.
