Game Of Thrones: 10 Worst Characters Who Appeared After Season One
6. Ellaria Sand
Yes, the Dorne storyline really was such a disappointment in the show, especially for fans of the books, and it really shows here in that we're including a third entry related to the southernmost part of Westeros.
Of all the characters in Dorne, Ellaria Sand is the most disappointing. Ellaria could have been one of the strongest characters in the series, had Indira Varma been given the proper opportunity to shine.
Her initial introduction as Oberyn Martell's bastard lover is one of the most humorous scenes of the entire series, while her reaction to her prince's death at the hands of the Mountain is harrowing and heart-breaking. In short, Varma absolutely nails it in her debut season on the show, showing a great use of her acting chops and a real range for the character - another victim of Westoros' class hierarchy.
Sadly, it all goes downhill from there. As mentioned, Dorne is effectively relegated to a basic sub-plot in the series (which it arguably doesn't have room for) and Ellaria goes from a tragic victim to a vengeful fool who happily kills a young girl with no thought for the consequences of her actions.
Her death at the hands of Cersei in Season Seven is sadly a bit of a godsend as it at least gives her a semi-deserved send-off.
