6. Jaime Pushed Bran Out Of A Window
After weeks of travelling from King's Landing to Winterfell, with King Robert in close proximity, Jaime and Cersei could control themselves no longer once they reached the home of the Starks. The twins stole away from the party downstairs for some alone time high up in one of the castle's towers.
Discounting the sheer adventerous nature and climbing ability of Bran Stark, the Lannisters thought they were safe from prying eyes, but when Eddard's son saw them, Jaime and Cersei needed to stop him from exposing their secret to the world. The kingslayer pushed the little boy from the window to what he thought would be his death.
Even without considering that this is attempted child murder, this action is one of the few that kick started the entire Song of Ice and Fire saga. This eventually led to Catelyn taking Tyrion prisoner, which led to Jaime confronting Ned in the streets, killing both Stark and Lannister men.
This naturally built tension and hate between the two great houses - something that must have been going through Joffrey's head when he ordered Ser Ilyn Payne to remove Ned's.
