The Sons of the Harpy have emerged this season as the biggest threat to Daenerys rule in Meereen, and have been one of the most exciting developments in her story (outside of dwarves and dragons, anyway). Their introduction is fairly mysterious, in-keeping with their underground status. White Rat, a member of the Unsullied, is in a brothel when he has his throat slit by an unknown assassin, who leaves a mask as a calling card so its clear to Daenerys who committed the murder. Its in the episode that takes its name from the group that they really make their presence felt, moving out of the shadows to launch a large-scale assault on the city. Their attack is highly organised yet plays out in totally chaotic fashion, as the Second Sons and the Unsullied are completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of Harpies. It comes down to just Grey Worm against the Sons, until Ser Barristan Selmy arrives and shows he still knows how to wield a sword better than pretty much anyone else. While his ultimate death obviously wasnt a great moment, the introduction of the Harpies and just how much of a threat they are to Daenerys was, and the scenes and the Harpies themselves (especially with those masks) looked great.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
