Littlefinger treated Westerosi politics as his own personal chess board. Every move he made was a cold and calculated decision designed to bring him closer to the Iron Throne. He was the one who started this whole war, by manipulating Lysa Arryn into murdering her husband Jon.

Littlefinger finally met his match in the form of Sansa Stark. Littlefinger tried to turn the Starks against each other, which proved to be fatal. Sansa, Arya, and Bran pieced together his plan. When they publicly confront Littlefinger with all of his crimes, he denies it, but Bran, able to see the past, recites exactly what happened to a horrified Littlefinger.

Then, we see Littlefinger as we've never seen him before: orried. Even when held against the wall or at knife point, he always seemed calm and collected, trusting his own plans above all else. However, here, Littlefinger's plans have failed, and when Arya slits his throat, we see him for the slime he really is.
