Game Of Thrones: 15 Theories Better Than What We Got
6. Jon Snow's Coronation
There is a reason the show was called Game of Thrones. Throughout everything, though the white walkers were hinted at being the real battle, the most important thread was ultimately about who sat atop the Iron Throne when the series ended.
For years, the most popular fan theory was the R+L=J theory, which correctly predicted the true heritage of Jon Snow. Instead of coming from Ned Stark and a random woman, the one time Lord Commander of the Night's Watch was actually the product of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark's secret love.
This reveal confirmed that Jon Snow, or Aegon Targaryen's claim to the Iron Throne was actually stronger than that of Deanerys. The theories began revolving around what Aegon would do about being the rightful King, with one of the strongest being that he would challenge his aunt, and ultimately end the series atop the Iron Throne, as befit his claim.
Why else would such a bomb be dropped if not to cause another split in the Targaryen house?
Instead however, the writers took Jon's story in a different direction, having him stand loyally by the woman he viewed as Queen. It would seem that there was more Stark in Jon than Targaryen after all.
