Game Of Thrones: 20 Awesome Characters Who Were TOTALLY Screwed Over

Actor Ian McElhinney would probably agree with this, as he was very disappointed about his character being killed off and he wasn't alone in that.

Not only is Ser Barristan Selmy still alive in the books, but he really could've stayed around for longer. He was one of the most likeable characters in the entire show and his death at the hands of the Sons of the Harpy just felt pretty pointless more than anything else.

These early episodes of season five were very tedious and perhaps the show-runners wanted something big to happen, but killing off a strong character without any real purpose was not the right way to do it. It's just an enormous shame; he was such a nice guy.

What Should've Happened: Ser Barristan should've been kept around for a while longer. He could've died for Daenerys in season seven, for example; that season was in need of some more shocking character exits and Ser Barristan could've filled this hole nicely.
