Game Of Thrones: 20 Awesome Characters Who Were TOTALLY Screwed Over

1. Jaime Lannister

There are betrayals of character arcs and then there's this.

Jaime Lannister had one of the show's best arcs. Over seven seasons he went from a loathsome villain to a much more complex, sympathetic and heroic character who viewers genuinely cared about. It was some of the best writing the show has ever delivered.

Unfortunately, it all fell to pieces in episode four in season eight. First, he hooked up with Brienne, which should never have happened since their relationship always seemed more like a devoted friendship, not a romance.

And then... he left her and went back to Cersei. Eight years of character development thrown out just like that. This was truly, truly awful and one of the very worst things in Game of Thrones history.

There was also that infuriating moment in episode five when he said that he never really cared about the people of King's Landing, despite having murdered his own king to save them all those years earlier.

Eventually, much like Cersei, he was killed by a ceiling collapse. What a terrible end for a much-loved character.

What Should've Happened:

He should've got the redemption he so deserved and he should've, once again, killed his monarch to save the people of King's Landing from being massacred. Anything would've been better than what actually happened.

There really was no character who was treated worse than poor Jaime Lannister.
