Game Of Thrones: 20 Awesome Characters Who Were TOTALLY Screwed Over

Brynden 'The Blackfish' Tully (Clive Russell) was an entertaining, bad-ass presence and it was a relief that he survived the horrors of the Red Wedding in season three.

The Siege of Riverrun story-line in season six, in which he took the Riverrun back from the Freys, was a good one at first, especially since it finally brought him, Walder Frey (David Bradley) and Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies) back into the show, but the ending underwhelmed.

The siege had an anticlimactic resolution in which his men just gave up the castle and although the Blackfish decided to go down fighting, for some inexplicable reason his death was off-screen.

It seemed possible that he'd return and that this was a fake-out death, since this seemed like the only likely reason for killing such a cool character off without even showing it, but no. This awful off-screen demise was actually for real.

What Should've Happened: They could've, at the very least, been polite enough to give him a heroic last stand death that was actually, you know, on-screen.
