Game Of Thrones: 25 Key Details You Need To Know & Remember For Season 8
11. Daenerys Having A Child
Daenerys has been the subject of a lot of prophecies in the books that didn't make it into the show, but perhaps none feel as crucial after Season 7 as one made by Mirri Maz Duur, the witch who killed her baby to bring Drogo back to 'life'. Asked when Drogo will fully return, Mirri gives an expanded answer in George R.R. Martin's novels, saying:
"When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before."
That's particularly important because, in Season 7, Daenerys directly referenced the fact she cannot have children. When Game of Thrones is planning something big, there's often a lot of foreshadowing - just look at how it hammered home the point about the Wall being unbreakable in S7, before bringing it down. It feels like they might be planning something similar with Dany and her ability to have kids. Daenerys and Jon had sex in the finale, and there's now a strong chance that she will have his child in Season 8 - perhaps a son(g) of ice and fire.
