Game Of Thrones: 5 Best Moments From First Of His Name

3. Daenerys Makes A Decision

Having firmly placed herself as the ruler of Meereen, Daenerys is riding high off her recent victories. Even better, she has just learned that Joffrey Baratheon is dead, which leaves King€™s Landing wide open for a surprise attack amidst the political readjustment. However, this positive development is tempered with news that both Astapor and Yunkai have reverted back to their old ways and declared Daenerys an enemy. Not wanting to abandon all the progress she€™s made, she makes the hard decision to wait on attacking Westeros and stay in Meereen to rule over Slaver€™s Bay. This is a pivotal moment for Daenerys because it forces her to assess not only the difficult situation at hand, but her right and ability to rule. As she rightly says, how can she be queen of Westeros is she can€™t even handle ruling Meereen? It€™s not just her conscience that keeps her from abandoning the people she freed; she sees this as an opportunity to test out her ability to rule justly. Simply invading Westeros and taking the Iron Throne because it is her right isn€™t enough; she wants the people to want her to be queen. Her decision to stay in Meereen shows incredible maturity and foresight on her part, which only makes her claim that much more favourable. Hopefully her actions can live up to her ideals.
