Game Of Thrones: 5 Best Moments From First Of His Name

2. Karl Gets A Taste Of Valyrian Steel

Continuing with the Craster€™s Keep subplot, after making short work out of most of the mutineers, Jon Snow comes face to face with the legend himself, Karl Tanner of Gin Alley. The two go at it, long sword vs. knives, and Karl actually proves to be a very tough opponent for Jon. Karl manages to get the upper hand, and as he is going in for the kill, one of Craster€™s daughter-wives stabs him from behind. As Karl stupidly turns his attention towards her, Jon delivers a killing blow and drives Longclaw through the back of Karl€™s head and out his mouth. What a bloody and gruesome way to die, which of course makes it perfect for Karl. In just a couple scenes he managed to come off as one of the most despicable characters in Game of Thrones, and in a show with Joffrey and Ramsay Snow, that is really saying something. It was very satisfying seeing that sword suddenly stick out of his mouth, making for one of the best death scenes of the series. With his death, the whole mutineers story comes to a close. Bran and Jon are now back on the same path they were before this whole ordeal, proving that this subplot was obviously filler used to keep these characters busy so as not to advance their plots too quickly. It was a fun diversion from the source material, but with it done and over with, hopefully things will get back on track.
