Game Of Thrones: 5 Great Characters Ruined By Poor Writing

Arya Stark had one of the best storylines in the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones. Her adventures in Harrenhal and her time with Sandor Clegane were particularly good.

But Arya’s story started to go awry in Season 5 when she arrived in Braavos. The inhabitants of the House of Black and White were rather dull compared with the Hound, and Arya seemed to spend most of her time sweeping floors. In fairness, her rivalry with the Waif was interesting, but this wasn’t enough to salvage Arya’s storyline in the fifth and sixth seasons.

Sadly, Arya became an even worse character in the final two seasons. The main issue was how powerful she became in such a short space of time, which by extent made her less relatable. Her battle with Brienne whilst at Winterfell was a clear sign that the writers had lost the plot. Given Brienne’s experience and strength, there’s no way Arya would be able to match her.

To top it all off, Benioff and Weiss even gave Arya the privilege of defeating the Night King. Given Jon’s history with this iconic antagonist, he should have been the one to deliver the final blow, not Arya.
