Game Of Thrones: 5 Ups And 5 Downs From The Gift

4. Whatever That Sand Snakes/Bronn Scene Was - Down

The Sand Snakes were a bit of a letdown last week, with their brief fight with Bronn and Jaime somewhat lacking in the action stakes. That said, the pivotal moment of the battle was when Bronn received a cut from one of their spears, which it was confirmed this week contained poison. This is revealed to Bronn as he sits in his cell singing The Dornishman€™s Wife, with the Snakes in the cell opposite. It all plays out in a rather weird fashion, as Tyene uses her sexuality to wield power over Bronn, who is rendered incapable of thought for a few moments, getting him to admit that she€™s the most beautiful woman he€™s ever seen. When he does that, she gives him the antidote. Although any time Bronn gets on screen is welcome, and it€™s great that he has survived, the point of this scene - given he was poisoned, surely he was already powerless, so was it just to torment him further? Was it supposed to be empowering for the Sand Snakes? - is unclear and comes off as a rather strange one.
