Game Of Thrones: 5 Ups And 5 Downs From Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
10. Jorah And Tyrion Bonding - Up
As mentioned, one of the delights of the show is the unexpected or unusual character pairings it throws up. Last year it gave us Arya and The Hound, and this year it offers Tyrion Lannister and Jorah Mormont. Tyrion may have been taken captive by Jorah, but that doesnt mean the two cant have a little bonding and talk through their issues. Its probably not a choice for Jorah, as he exasperatedly asks Tyrion: Dont you ever shut up?! It transpires the two do have something in common: daddy issues. Tyrion infamously killed his own father, something he reveals here to Jorah, before giving him the news that his father is also dead, breaking the sellswords stony facade (pun not intended). Jorah then goes on to tell Tyrion of how seeing Daenerys survive the flames and give birth to dragons convinced him that she was worth following. Tyrion could have a conversation with a brick wall (still not intended) and make it interesting, but its a nice scene for Mormont, that fleshes (sorry) his character out a little bit more.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
