Game Of Thrones: 7 Best Moments From Breaker Of Chains

5. Tyrion Lets Pod Go

In a very surprising move, this episode goes over the half way point before we are reminded that Tyrion is rotting in a cell. When we finally do catch up to him, his squire Podrick Payne visits to inform him of the details of the situation, as well as smuggle in some goods. Cersei is gathering up a solid collection of people to testify against him, including Varys. They won't let him see Bronn because they think he might have aided him. Even worse, Sansa has been missing since the wedding, which only makes him look more guilty. But the emotional crux of the scene is Tyrion's refusal to take Pod down with him, and he orders him to accept the offer to testify against Tyrion in exchange for a knighthood. Pod is one of the most loyal characters on the show, and to one of the most likable characters. In the world of Game of Thrones, such a virtue is rarely seen, so this makes Pod extremely sympathetic. You can see he really cares about Tyrion; one of the few who does. Being forced to abandon him is painful, and you can see it on Pod's face as he leaves. Their goodbye is heartbreaking. Tyrion has not had many people in his life he can trust, and this season has seen him forced to push both Shae and Pod out of his life for their own good. Tyrion's situation continues to get worse, and it doesn't look to be letting up any time soon.
