Game Of Thrones: 7 Best Moments From The Laws Of Gods And Men

2. Shae Betrays Tyrion

In a move that shocks Tyrion to his core, the last person brought in to take the stand against him is none other than his lover Shae. She details the nature of their relationship from the moment they met while mixing lies with truth. She tells them that Tyrion plotted with Sansa to murder Joffrey so that she would accept him. She basically paints him as a lecherous, conniving, and angry man. Tyrion is humiliated in front of the entire court, and in desperation begs for Shae to stop. Tyrion has had to put up with a lot of unjust ridicule and humiliation in his life, but this trial is the worst it has ever been. Yet despite everything that is thrown his way, Tyrion still manages to get through it with only a few outbursts. This all changes when Shae is used against him. This was a women he was in love with, and to see her attack him so viciously was like twisting a dagger in his heart. The performances of both actors sell the falling out of this once hopeful relationship, even if you are one of those who didn't quite buy it. You can tell that Shae is hurting, both because of Tyrion's rejection and what she is doing to him. It is not yet obvious why she agreed to testify, if she agreed at all. She may have been coerced into doing it through force. Whatever the reason, it is enough to finally break Tyrion's spirit to the point where he can no longer hide his true feelings, leading to one of the greatest scenes in Game of Thrones history.
