Game Of Thrones: 7 Simple Fixes That Would Have Improved Season 6

2. Compress Arya's Story

The Problem: Along with Tyrion, Arya's storyline was the most disappointing of the season. The countless scenes of her getting beaten up by the Waif, the will-she-won't-she assassination plot and the ludicrous resolution all felt like the show was treading water.

We had basically seen this whole arc last season with Arya being given a target to kill, choosing not to go through with it and instead embracing her past, then the Faceless Men turning on her. So what was the point of Season 6 for Arya? Were we just killing time until she somehow popped back up in Westeros? Despite one or two moments, anytime spent with Arya this season seemed like a waste of time.

The Solution: Give Arya the same treatment they gave Sam this season and reduce her story to two or three key scenes. Yes, Arya is a popular character but this season wasn't doing her any favors. It would be better to limit her screen time and make her story more impactful than to spend time with her just for the sake of it.

To truly fix things we have to go to the end of Season 5. Instead of ending with Arya blind, end with Jaqen putting a hit out on her. Start Season 6 with Arya on the run. Mid-season have her fight and kill the Waif and disappear. Then we have the added surprise (and plausibility) when she reappears to kill Walder Frey in the last episode.
