Game of Thrones: 10 Best Moments From The Children

2. Tyrion Kills Shae

As Tyrion awaits his execution, Jaime appears to rescue him. He and Varys have conspired to smuggle him into Essos. Jaime leads him to the door with which Varys is waiting for him and the two Lannister brothers say their final farewells. However, something compels Tyrion to turn around and confront his father before leaving. He makes his way into the Tower of the Hand expecting to see Tywin. Instead he discovers Shae in his bed. The two exchange a look before attempting to kill one another, and after a brief struggle Tyrion strangles Shae with the golden chain around her neck. The discovery that Shae has taken abed with his own father completely devastates Tyrion. This woman he loves has destroyed him emotionally, so much so that it turns a man who once was disgusted at the idea of senselessly killing beetles to become a killer himself. At that moment he can't help but lash out at her and make her pay for what she has done. The acting by Peter Dinklage here is tremendous; showing a wide range of conflicting emotions all in one moment. This act is an incredibly dark turn for a character that once provided the show with its most potent levity. Tyrion is now a murderer and it is sure to haunt him going forward. He doesn't stop there however...
