Game of Thrones: 10 Best Moments From The Children
8. Brienne Vs. The Hound
As Brienne and Pod are making their way through the Vale in search for Sansa Stark, they run into Arya and the Hound. At first Brienne and Arya exchange pleasantries and even begin admiring each other. Then the Hound steps in, Pod recognizes him, and suddenly a colossal miscommunication between the two of them leads to them crossing swords. Both Brienne and the Hound fight their hardest against each other and prove to be worthy opponents. Eventually Brienne gets the upper hand, resulting in the Hound taking a nasty fall off a cliff. This whole scene is without a doubt one of the biggest divergences from the novels, which is actually pretty cool. It's nice to see Arya and Brienne interact even if it is all too brief. Knowing how similar they are to each other, you know they would get along really well, which makes Arya's rejection of her protection that much more painful to witness. Her decision was logical though, as she has no reason to trust her, especially after all the grief she had already been through. It was also a treat to see two major characters fight each other, at least until you realize that you don't want either to lose, making the whole fight extremely tense and uncomfortable. It's a well choreographed and brutal fight that devolves into cheap shots and dirty tactics, and the outcome oddly enough leads to one of the saddest scenes in the history of the show.
