Game Of Thrones: 8 Characters You Should Probably Hate (But Don't)

7. Jorah Mormont

Jorah Mormont? You mean the eternally sad and somewhat desperate hero who also happens to be one of "nicest" and most level-headed characters on the show? Yup! Though Jorah Mormont spends much of this time on Game of Thrones standing around looking like a lost puppy and doing whatever Daenerys asks of him, audiences seem to have forgotten that this guy isn't just a devoted servant, but a disgraced knight with a shady past. The show has positioned Jorah as somebody to root and feel sorry for, and whilst that's all well and good - he is very likeable - everyone seems to have forgotten his backstory. Firstly, Jorah was estranged from his father, Joer Mormont, because he got into the slave trade. That's right, people: Jorah used to sell slaves. He was caught and disgraced, and banished from the Seven Kingdoms. Then there's the little notion that, although he eventually changed sides, he originally started out spying on Daenerys and lied about it. For ages. So whilst audiences should - technically - despise Jorah Mormont: Slave Master, the show has made that near-on impossible because of his soppy affection for Daenerys. Hooray!
