Prequels are all well and good, but the reality is that the more connected they are to Game Of Thrones, the higher chance they have of being successful (and being made at all). Robert's Rebellion (regularly referred to as the War of the Usurper) is one of the most interesting conflicts that George R. R. Martin has ever written, and it has direct bearing on the events of Game Of Thrones, having been referenced countless times throughout.

The rebellion began shortly after the execution of Lord Rickard Stark and Brandon Stark by the Mad King Aerys, and ushered in the fall of the House Targaryen, with House Baratheon succeeding as the new royal house following the war's conclusion. We've heard so much about the Mad King on the show that it would be great to see him on-screen.

Not only that, but countless characters from Game Of Thrones could return, including Robert Baratheon, Ned Stark, Catelyn Stark, Stannis Baratheon and Ser Davos. At this point, most of those characters are now dead, so the novelty of seeing them return would be immensely satisfying. There are so many frequent references in the main series to the events of the War of the Usurper that a spin-off would genuinely make Game Of Thrones a more rewarding and coherent watch.
