Game Of Thrones: 9 Most Mind-Bending Character Transformations

2. Theon Greyjoy

How He First Appears An obvious contender has to be Theon Greyjoy, since his character seems to have been transformed three or maybe even four times. Starting out as a bit of a prat who had legitimate grievances about his position after being captured by the Starks, his ultimate betrayal of Robb still appalled audiences. What He Becomes He turned from scorned captive to borderline psychotic killer - it's amazing what being rejected by two families can do to your personality. From that point on Theon's character development gets increasingly weird. Captured by Ramsay Snow and tortured to the point of a total mental breakdown, the Theon that emerges is no longer called Theon at all - he is named Reek instead. So complete is the transformation that he repeatedly betrays Sansa to Ramsay, even though he knows it could result in her death. When Theon finally steps in to save Sansa, and thereby redeem himself, his character has finally come full circle. It seems Theon's character is pulled from one mental state to another from episode to episode. It probably wouldn't be too far to say he'd make an interesting case study for a psychologist.
