Until now, there's been no official word on how many episodes Game of Thrones Season 8 would consist of - although it was reported last year that it'd have just six.

Now Weiss and Benioff have confirmed that to be the case. After Season 7, we'll only have six episodes of Game of Thrones left. The pair also revealed some details about the writing of that season, saying that the outline alone is 140 pages.

As for who'll be writing it, they'll be joined by Dave Hill (who wrote last year's Home) and long-time writer Bryan Cogman (whose credits include the great Kissed By Fire and The Laws Of Gods And Men). Hill is set to tackle the first episode, Cogman the second, and then Weiss and Benioff will "fight over who gets to write which half," jokingly adding that they "fight over who gets to kill Sansa."
