The idea of a Game of Thrones spin-off has been mooted for years now, and it seems pretty much inevitable that it will one-day happen: HBO want it to, there'll be an appetite for it, and there's a lot of this world and its mythology to explore.

Weiss and Benioff, however, while being the ones to bring George R.R. Martin's work to life, have typically distanced themselves from a spin-off, and did so in fairly concrete terms at SXSW, with Benioff saying: "I think HBO might well do one. And we’ll watch it. I think it’ll be great, but I think it’s important to get new blood in. New vision."

As for possible ideas, Weiss joked that they could do one about the zombie Stark sisters, while Benioff suggested "Hodor is going to get his own prequel spinoff series." Weiss added: "It's a multi-cam sitcom."
