Game Of Thrones: Every Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
40. Book Of The Stranger (S6E4)
Written By: David Benioff & D.B. Weiss Directed By: Daniel Sackheim
This episode would've been decent without Daenerys' fiery moment, what with all the sibling reunions going on - the best of which was undoubtedly Jon and Sansa, finally reuniting some of Ned's kids - but her destruction of the Dothraki brought the spectacular.
It'd been a while since she'd had such a powerful moment, and defeating the khals and emerging triumphant from the flames is one of her most empowering scenes on the show. Tyrion's mostly still being wasted though, and Ramsay's murder of Osha doesn't carry any real impact.
39. The Bear And The Maiden Fair (S3E7)
Written By: George R.R. Martin Directed By: Michelle MacLaren
The show was on a really solid run of form when this episode arrived, and the GRRM-penned script did nothing to derail the momentum.
The main talking point from this episode is, of course, the fight with the bear. Or not so much the bear itself (though it looks impressive), but Jaime's decision to return and save Brienne, fully cementing their unlikely bond and helping him on his way to redemption.
The rest of the episode is getting things in place nicely, with Talisa revealing she's pregnant, Dany arriving at Yunkai, and early signs from how great Tormund would become. The downsides? Bran and Jojen, which has lots of greenseeing and little happening, and Theon losing his, y'know, which no one really needed.
