Game Of Thrones: Every Season 7 Episode Ranked Worst To Best

5. 'Dragonstone'

Perhaps it's because the gap between Season 6's end and 7's start was so long, and the hype added a glossy sheen to the opening episode, but 'Dragonstone' felt like a strong, story-led starting point.

It introduced the show's new agenda of pace and lots of narrative detail, with the chess pieces all being set in place. Dany came to Dragonstone, Cersei made Euron an ally, Arya devastatingly ended the House Of Frey, Jon demanded the fealty of two more houses and Sam went full Neville Longbottom at the Citadel. There was a lot in there, and at times it felt like a whistle-stop tour through all of the characters, but it was entirely welcome after being out of their company for so long.

And by the end, everything was beginning to feel extremely real, like we were closer than ever before to the main players actually getting down to some real Gaming.

Best Moment:

The Hound's vision (and his dynamic with Thoros and Beric generally).

Worst Moment:

Some would say the cameo of Ed Sheeran, but that's too easy (and wrong) a target, but the real issue was Sam "discovering" that there's Dragonglass under Dragonstone and sending word to Jon, despite this being entirely known information already.
