Game Of Thrones Preview: What To Expect From S5E8 Hardhome
5. Aryas Training Continues
Arya was conspicuous by her absence last week, after her story had taken a stride forward in episode 6, Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken. That left us with her being introduced to the room where the Faceless Men store all of the faces they use to change their identity, and with Jaqen Hghar commenting that she may not be ready to become no-one, but maybe she is ready to become someone else. We could see the first example of that this week, with Arya taking on another identity to carry out an assassination, perhaps as Cat of the Canals, which is who she becomes at one point in the books. A possible target may be Meryn Trant, who is on her kill-list and was last seen being sent to Braavos along with Mace Tyrell. They havent been seen since, but its a fair assumption that their paths will cross. Of course, Meryn would be a kill personal to Arya, which is not what the Faceless Men are about. This could lead to a particular punishment from the House of Black and White, albeit one that still serves as part of her training.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
