Game Of Thrones Preview: What To Expect From S5E9 The Dance Of Dragons

1. The Dance Of Dragons

The title of the episode takes its name (with the odd article and preposition change) from the title of the fifth book of A Song of Ice and Fire, and it could also be a reference to the Dance Of The Dragons event, a huge Targaryen civil war that took place almost two centuries before the show. That could be an indication of the escalating civil war in Meereen between Daenerys and her followers, and the Sons of the Harpy. They€™re presumably going to be playing a role in this episode, as the trailer for season 5 includes a shot of the fighting pit; in it, surrounded by Sons of the Harpy but protected by a handful of Unsullied, stand Jorah, Missandei and Daenerys. With the fighting pit in this episode, there€™s a good chance we€™ll be seeing that scene this week. If so, it begs a couple of questions: 1) Why are Daenerys and Missandei in there in the first place? 2) Where are Tyrion, Daario and Hizdahr? 3) How are they going to escape this predicament? There€™s no clues being offered to the first two, but it€™s a safe bet given the title that there€™s one thing we€™ll definitely be seeing, which should come in handy for Dany: dragons. If episode 9 wants to provide a typically big moment and reclaim its glory, then really showing off Drogon (and maybe Rhaegal and Viserion) would certainly do the trick.
