Tywin Lannister was unmatched when it came to influence and power. His cold and calculated demeanour was enough to make even the bravest of individuals bow to his superiority.
Despite the Lannisters early losses to the Starks during the War of the Five Kings, it was ultimately Tywin that brought an end to Robb Stark and his army. The Red Wedding may have been far from honourable, but it firmly exemplified Tywin’s intelligence and efficiency, as did his timely arrival at the Battle of the Blackwater.
However, the most entertaining aspect of Tywin was his relationship with Jamie, Cersei and Tyrion. Each of his children were strong individuals in their own right, yet they always felt inferior next to their father, and watching such interactions was always a highlight of any episode.
Consequently, Tywin’s absence was certainly felt during the last four seasons of the show. Indeed, Charles Dance’s performance was captivating from beginning to end.
