7. Snow More Mr. Nice Guy

Life ain’t easy on the Wall. The constant fear of white walkers, wildlings and giants, freezing-cold temperatures, limited wardrobe choice – there’s little to recommend.

If you happen to be Jon Snow, things are harder still. Ser Alliser has been a Thorne in his side ever since ‘Lord Snow’ joined the Night’s Watch, Snow’s laughable stance that wildlings are just people born the wrong side of the Wall frequently meets with mockery, and he’s seldom taken seriously despite bailing his brothers out time and again.

Even when he’s voted in as Lord Commander, some people just can’t bring themselves to take Jon Snow seriously. Bad move.

Snow has his hand forced when he chairs a meeting and faces opposition in the form of Janos Slynt. After decreeing that Bryan is the perfect choice for a latrine captain on account of him being ginger, thus proving that prejudice against carrot tops extends far beyond our realms, Snow tasks Slynt with taking command of Greyguard and patching up the dilapidated castle.

Slynt tells him to stick his order where the snow don’t fall, prompting Snow to call his bluff and get medieval on his *ss. Nice one, Jon.
