3. Episode 7 - The Gift
Maester Aemon's death was probably the first one from natural causes in the whole series, leaving Sam and Gilly alone as Jon headed out for Hardhome. Sam's defence of Gilly was immense, taking a bloody pummelling, before standing to face his foes, with the assistance of Ghost the direwolf. There's an interesting scene between Jaime and Myrcella, while Ramsay shows Sansa the poor old woman who tried to help her, flayed at the castle walls. But the episode is defined by two immense scenes on opposing sides of the Narrow Sea. First up, Jorah lands in the fighting pits, subduing all of the competition before revealing himself to Daenerys. It's not a happy return, but it's a return, and he brought the gift of Tyrion Lannister. Seeing the dwarf and the Queen in one shot is a bizarre situation considering how long fans have got to know them in opposite corners of the world, but it was a great moment. Best Moment: The second key scene was the top moment from the episode, with Cersei confronting Margaery in the cells, gaining the upper hand and drawing a smug grin back on her face, before a conversation with the brilliant High Sparrow led to Cersei's own crimes being brought to the fore. She's arrested, and the scene provided a fantastic moment of pure satisfaction turning to life-altering destruction.
