Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'No One'
1. Dragging Meereen Storyline
Meereen was a big problem for George R.R. Martin, as he struggled to juggle the various balls he'd thrown up in the air there, and it took a long time for him to resolve it. Unfortunately, it seems the show are having a similar problem. It may not be an issue of convergence, but they are still struggling to make the Meereen storyline interesting.
It's been completely treading water so far, kept afloat largely thanks to the fact that watching Tyrion in a blank room by himself would still be somewhat entertaining. They try to explode the action into life this week, with the Masters attacking, but it's kind of hard to care. Their motivations for the attack aren't all that clear, it made Tyrion look like a bit of an idiot, and it's left to Daenerys to fly in and save the day. Hopefully with her return things can make some progress and get her and Tyrion on track to Westeros (because that's definitely where Tyrion needs to be), but with the majority (if not all) of episode 9 given over to Bastardbowl, it won't have long to do it.
