Game Of Thrones Season 6: 26 WTF Moments

21. The Most Painful Close-Up Ever

GAME OF THRONES WTF
HBO

Remember the days when we all crowed for young Olly's death in the worst possible way? He'd been a traitor of the worst kind, abandoning and then stabbing his hero because he didn't agree with his ideology or his sympathies and he should be burned at the stake.

But then, when the moment came for Olly to do the dead man's jig next to Alister Thorne, it didn't feel like that at all. HBO effectively shamed us for those feelings (and that Internet community's vociferous call for blood) by reminding us not only that he was but a boy, but that his family had been slain and he was bound by his own sense of duty.

When the camera lingered on Olly's dying face - eyes bulging awfully - it was an accusation from the show and a challenge of every preconception of what is morally black and white. And if you didn't come away feeling a little bad at yourself, you're probably an inhumane monster who pulled the legs off spiders as a child.
