5. Tyrion's Plan Is Badly Flawed

It's fair enough that the multitude of converging story arcs and characters at the minute mean that merging some storylines from the books is necessary, but in hinting that Tyrion is taking Quentyn Martell's place in the show, the writers have made a mistake.

It's extremely interesting to think of Tyrion as a secret Targaryen - that almost goes without saying - but so far there's been no substantial foreshadowing of it at all (unless we are to believe that Tywin saying "you're no son of mine" was in fact just honesty). The shot of him advancing towards a dragon in captivity (something he said doesn't mesh well), simultaneously suggests that theory but also ruins it.

Without any establishing work, this shot makes Tyrion look like something he definitely isn't - a massive idiot. If he doesn't have Targaryen blood, are we just to believe that he is going to REASON with the beast? This is not Dragonheart.
